I was in a chinese restaurant near my house, when I saw they had a beautiful green asian arowana all cramped up in a 125 gallon tank. This fish was probably several years old, and at least 2.5 ft (probably close to 3). It was visibly having trouble turning around in this small tank. There was small part of me that wanted to go back with a shotgun and pull a delta force style hostage rescue on this fish. It was sad to see such a beautiful fish so poorly kept. I don't understand why they wouldn't invest a little more money to buy a bigger tank for this rare, expensive, adult fish. I can never go back into this place and look at that fish. This is too bad, because they make a pretty good shrimp lo mein.:irked:

That sucks. There is a place here in Indy that had a 14" silver aro. that was in a small surfline tank. I asked them if I could have and they said NO. One of these days, I will just run out of the restaurant with him, and have a bucket in my car waiting for him.

I have been to a chinese resturaunt here In Hawaii that has a very large silver.
When I seen it it was the most horable thing I have seen. The fish can't even turn around, just move up and down.

Sad cases...... Hopefully these owners will one day realise that they need a much bigger tank for their aro....

and maybe they will also realize that they are breaking a major law by even have that aro period

There is a restaurant 20 min away from you here in Anderson that has two pacus in a 55g:swear:
Unacceptable! Indiana seems to have the best AND worst fishkeepers all together in one state.

When I lived in the bay area there was a chinese resturant with a really old silver....Almost 4 feet long in a 200 gallon tank:irked:. Anyhow, I returned to this place about a year later with a friend and wow. They actually had gotten a custom tank built along the back of the resturant and made it a centerpiece in the place. This was a really nice and pretty big resturant. Anyhow, this was finally what that fish deserved....To this day I have never seen a silver arowanna that large in person.:D Iwanna go back and see if its still there....This was in 1997.

I've seen fish in China in the most horrible situations! Here we have a store that keeps and enormous silver in a very tight space. It has been there for the last 9 years..i think that it is so used to those unspeakable suroundings, and so old, that she would die of stress if changed, with the change itself, even if to a suitable tank..

There is an Asian restaurant here that had a 3' silver in a 55g. Turning, swimming or moving was not an option. I haven't been there in eight years, so I have no idea if it is still alive. The kept the water crystal clear and the tank bottom was always spotless.
