i am begining my rescueing career!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sometimes i rescue then sell or give away to caring people (if i cant keep it for long- but its in good condition). animals are my passion and i hate seeing them get hurt so i try to help out.

You will find that it's a short career..........It gets old QUICK, after seeing the same stupidity over and over again.......

ok so for the last few years i have been attempting to resque pets people dont want anymore or cant take care of and i am now getting the first real resque. a leopard gecko one of my neighbours thought would be cool but is now bored with and doesnt want. i get it tommorrow. i am so excited!!!:D

sounds like the makings of a new episode of animal hoarders .

no i have a list of animals i want to own eventually and i wont own any other animal that is not on that list. and the list has how many too. the most is 6 buenos aires tetras, the next most is 3 catfish. most of them are 1-2. and no i wont be a hoarder. the sideblothces go to the bearded dragon, sorry if that confused ya. also i am 13, i will not be getting all my animals right now, i have at least 40 more years to collect the rest.

Rescuers above all else keep the health and happiness of the animals in mind.
I've driven 2 hours in a dilapidated vehical to get animals out of situations
I've scrounged the last dollar out of my regular paycheck to cover unexpected vet bills
When grocery shopping comes, the animal food is at the top of the list
I don't go on vacation nearly as often or for as long as I used to... fortunately I have friends who are experienced enough with the animals I work with to cover for me when i need to
My "free time" is spent cleaning cages, prepping food, or otherwise giving attention to unsocial animals
My "paid time off" from work gets spent doing visits to schools or other rescue-related projects
It is an incredibly rewarding experience, but also a very difficult one. I have to maintain a calm-demeanor around people I would love to punch in the face for their neglect and abuse towards the animals I'm rescuing. I am constantly researching, spending, and involving myself in the growth and knowledge of the animals I work with.
If this is what you want to do, and you are able to do it, awesome for you! Just be prepared for whatever comes your way, and don't let yourself become too overwhelmed. It's easy to say "yes" to every animal that gets presented to you, but sometimes you really need to pay attention to what you can reasonably handle, otherwise it may get out of hand... and nobody wants to see that happen.
