I am going insane (coralife related)

I have a coralife 36" 2x96 unit lighting 1/2 of my 125 tank. Well, 1 of my ballasts died & I have been caught in a limbo of trying to match the proper ballast to my light strip. Here goes:
Model # of my ballast: E296PX-1 - black housing w/ white label
When I Googled (tried almost all variance in search parameters) I come up w/ results/sites/products that era inconclusive @ best ie:

The second product looks to be the proper replacement, but my Q is:

(1)Do the ballasts in question matter as long as the wiring is "proper"?
(2)Can anyone shed some light {hahaha} in general on my conundrum?

There should be four yellow, two red, and two blue wires
in the ballast you need for a 2x96 fixture
check Lowes/HD although they are not any cheaper
