I have had my stingrays for a few months now and everything has been great!

both stingrays were perfectly fine yesterday but today when I got up one is dead with a death curl and had absolutely no signs yesterday?

I don't know what happened? any thoughts? I am now scared my other will die as well?

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance:cry:

tested water, no changes as to parameters, regular water changes. have not done anything differently since I purchased rays. water is fine. tested great! did notice a small brown spot on belly when I took it out of the tank though. just remembered that? no changes in last few days at all. was getting ready to move them to my 200 gallon tank today! I have been waiting so long to be able to do it but wanted to be sure new tank was ok and it is but now I am scared to move my other ray to the 200 gallon tank!

Sorry for your loss was it a parisite or a puncture. I have heard of so many rays with punture wounds from other rays die.

I think they might have had a parasite as now it is looking like the other ray is getting the death curl. omg I am so upset! and there isn't anything I can do is there? someone please answer?

They normally just dont get deathcurl without some signs, has the rays been eating are they skinny have they been stressed? There must be something with your water when was the last time they both ate something. Tell us the exact water conditions PH,ammonia etc. And your exact water change procedures how many times a week and % ea time and tank size they are currently in.

my son is going to take my water to a different store to have it tested again. I think the other store did not test it right. the other ray I thought was getting a death curl isnt after all. they ate last night before I went to bed. they always do. they are not skinny and not stressed unless there is something up with water. I am doing a partial water change now. they are currently in a 75 gallon tank with a couple rainbows and a fire eel. have been with the same fish all along since I have had them. never a problem. I just changed the water 2 days ago around a 25 to 35 percent water change. I do that at least twice a week and always test water afterward. the only things they eat are frozen blood worms and live black worms. they refuse to eat anything else.

if they were kept in a 55 gallon and your only changing 35% 2 times a week that may be it
thats a smalll body of water for the amount of fish
the 200 gallon will help alot

get your own test kits they are a must for any fishkeeper
