Hi,

So I've picked myself up a 185L (50 US gallons, 42imperial gallons) and have it lightly planted with sand substrate. I was wondering what i could put in there, that is big and fascinating, but also will live with neons and cory's!? I love the look of the red tail catfish, but i know they get to big, but is there anything similar, maybe a dwarf version? What about sharks? or dwarf stingrays? I don't have a clue, so i guess this is your chance to list your favourite fish that would suite my aquarium :L I'd prefer not to go with bala or red fin sharks, as there a bit to common...

Any ideas?

Thanks

mollies, tetras, bettas. Stingray requires a minimum of 150g, even the smallest as they still get 18" long. Bala sharks get to 15", and should be kept in a minimum of a 6' long tank as they dart, and can cover the tanks length in a fraction of a second, hitting hte glass and injuring htemselves. Plus they're a schooling fish and prefer to be in groups of 4-5.

there is a short body rtc but it will still be much to big for that size tank when it grows as for sharks i think redtail sharks , stingrays get to big for a 50gal even the smaller species so maybe get 2rbp or a single rhom, an oscar with good filtration, um...cant really think of anythng else.... well what about african cichlids?

Most thing I can think of may eat small fish but safer oddballs I would look at are

Smaller eels? Spiny or peacock?

African giant shrimp(vampire shrimp) may grow a bit big

Dwarf puffers? Not big but interesting and depending on personality may be ok with other fish a while

I will keep thinking and post a few more later

It is not a big tank.. It is avrage tank size IMO... maybe a few pictus cats, some gouramis, a pair or single firemouth cichlids, a bristelnosed pleco(Not A common pleco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) a firemouth might eat neons but IMO the cories are safe... firemouth cichlids are pretty cool...

If you want big fish get a larger tank, a 100+ gallon would be considered a big aquarium imo and you have a lot more options...

Try a red finned shark aka rainbow shark, intrestin fish, always got along with any other fish in my community setup, rarely exceeds about 5 inches.heres a picture for refrence, not my pic. This realy makes me miss my old one, 6 in and really thick. Rip palImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1359423114.541155.jpg
