After much thought and a TON of deliberation, I went ahead and bought a MBU that needs much love and attention. I believe he has a nasty case of IPs, but other than that seems healthy enough. He's very skinny, but still has an appetite, which makes me a little more comfortable with his state.

I plan on feeding him a few times a day and treating his food with an IP medicine.

He's currently resting on the bottom of the tank and only moves when I go up to him to have a look.

Does anyone have any advice on helping him get well?

Soak food in Gel Tek-Ultra Cure PX -contains 3 meds for parasites. Do not follow bottle instruction - he will not eat it out of the water. Soak food and feed for at least 3 days, better if you do 5 days. Pet Supplies "Plus" carries it- here's the link for WI locations near Milwaukee

This stuff works pretty good. If they don't have it you can get it online- check That Fish Place. Good luck

ha. I forgot to come back and check here!

I got the Gel Tek from someone on a different forum.. he eats and eats and eats.

He prefers clam, so that's what I've been giving him.. won't touch krill at all. I'm planning on getting some earth worms tonight and injecting them with the geltek. His poo is half brown and half stringy white stuff, so he's obviously passing the worms.

In the last week, he's contracted a nasty case of Ich, which I've been treating with aquarium salt, raised temps and 50% wc and gravel vacs every other day.

I believe he is blind. He doesn't seem to have a clue where he's going, he runs into everything, and he tends to swim with his little nose in the substrate when he's hunting for food. I was poking his food in his face and waiting till he'd eat it, but I got sick of that and realized that I could just drop his food in and he'd find it within 15 minutes.

Even with all those issues. He seems fine and dandy. He's by far more energetic than when I first got him, and he swims around the tank a lot. I watched a snail crawl from the glass to his nose today... he didn't eat it, no matter how much I told him he should. silly fish.

You go and save this puffers life and then it gets ich you fix it an the little brat won't eat for you. I am sorry you don't get great happy dance you show it the food befor you through it in. My puffer still gets feed twice a day. I really hope it all gets better you and your puffer.
