I Bought these Scrubbies. Will they work for media?

I just bought these scrubbies at the dollar store by me. Should I remove the sponge from the inside? Will these work for my media? Do I just add these to one of my filter trays in my wet/dry Marineland Model 4 sump? Can they go anywhere?

If I were you, I would try some other dollar stores until you find the spongeless kind. You want water to flow through those things some and I think the sponge is just going to force the water to bypass and it will probably get clogged up pretty quickly. They are six for a dollar in my town.
