It finally happened my 11 Arowanas had a party and made some babies!!!
i walked by the pond 3 days ago looking at my amazing large fish, I have had most of them for about 3 years some 5.
then looking at the feeder fish i saw some swimming different, the were baby arowanas.
I decided to drain the pond to get to the babies and separate them form the big ones.
in the process of draining I transferred all the big ones to a neighboring pond. I checked each fish for health and opened the mouths just to make sure no eggs were being lost.
I have done this several times in the past but never any signs of eggs, Now number 9 gave me 93 eggs.
we completely flipped out !!!!!
I took us by surprise , even though I had seen the babies before i did not think there would be another one with eggs
we took the eggs carefully and placed the in a Mc donald incubator inside an aquarium.
we also got the two babies, looks like its not a good idea to have them raise the babies naturally, seems that many get lost or eaten.
Attached are some pics.
