So I have an eclipse hood for my tank and somehow broke my biowheel. I went to the store to get a new one and they are like $15 bucks! To hell with that. Has anyone just placed biorings in its place?

I bought another one when mine broke. Its up to you but the bio wheel is a great invention.... It does a great job especially on my eclipse hooded setups

i would look online for a new one cheaper, or just suck it up and buy a new one.

the bio-wheels are great inventions IMO. i loved them when i had the penguin filters, i just couldent deal with the cartridge changing.

I saw a post on another forum where the guy replaced a busted Bio-Wheel with a bag of BioMax. He seemed to like it better.

Hmmm....seems to get me thinking.

DONT LIKE BIOWHEELS JUST MADE MORE NOISE AND THEY WOULD ALWAYS GET STUCK.

I dont want to be that new guy on the forum that posts a bunch of links to other sites, so I wont post a link here, but the thread I was referring to was about re-designing the filter setup on an Eclipse system. The entire media path was changed, so I dont know if you can swap only the Bio-wheel, or if he had to do something else first to allow this swap.

I always just took mine off, they were too noisy, go stucks and would shoot water everywhere, id just stick a small bag of some other media in there. Ive done neither and havnt had any problems
