went to a local pond area to go catch local lyretail/sword tails to feed as a treat to my O and my two western painted and i came across the coolest thing ever. a blue crayfish...ok i know they arent that cool i just never thought id find one in the wild. so i scooped em up and now he is in a one gal terrerium i have a 5 gal just havent set it up...or i gues i could use my 10 gal for him. anywho what can i feed him to brighten his blue up cause really he is a blue grey and is only an inch long. any help is appriciated. thanks

Nice find! I wonder if someone released it or if they can happen in the wild  Feed it Spiralina...that might help.

i doubt someone would release a baby blue...

thats what i thought...i hope he brightens up cause as you can tell from the flicks he is kind of grey

We have a restaurant called Crustacions and they catch their own "crawfish" and cook and sell them. They have a tank with three blue ones they caught. They say that in the wild they are one in a million. I dont know how accurate that is though.

Not sure about the coloration factor, but if he's not eating, give him bloodworms, I'm sure he'll take them.

We have reds...electric blues and giant blues. Unlike with fish...food dosn't seem to have any effect on their colors. A varied diet is best. Crays are facinating to watch and a lot more intelligant than people give them credit for.
