When I was about to leave home this morning, I was startled to see what happened to my 14" gator - It was free floating on the surface with the front half of the body of a 8" peacock bass in his mouth. The body depth of the pbass was like 5 times the width of the gar's mouth. The gator could never swallow it whole without using the crocodile death roll or dislocating its jaws . The gator was motionless and I thought it had choked itself to death trying to swallow the pbass. It was like watching a python devouring a doe on the National Geographic channel but this happened right in front of my eyes. When I turned to get my camera to take a photo, it suddently spat out the carcass and dove. This shocking image is still stuck in my mind.
