It's pissing me right off.... I have started my first reef tank and now I need to break down my 75 gallon. I put a divider in the middle of my 150 so I could seperate my breeding jags from the Trimac.... as you can see in my sig my trimac was in jail. This guy is nuts and cant be put in with anyone.... he even killed his wife. The tank is a 6 foot by 18" footprint. So there each getting 3' x 18" which I know is not enough. They have been like this for about a week and are doing great. I obviously have doubled my water changes, but I know its the swimming space that sucks. I CANT decide which one to get rid of....... I want the jag pair, not for breeding... I truly just want the male to grow out and be a monster. The Trimac is like my buddy though I've grown him out from 3" to now over a foot and he's killed soooo many of my fish LOL you think I would wanna kill him by now but I can't get rid of him.

Is keeping the fish in this tank with a divider really that bad for them???? there eating like crazy like usual and my water quality is still perfect because I know how to care for my tanks. I used to only need to do 25% weekly on this tank when it was only the jag pair. I have been testing it and after a week together I only needed to do about 35-40% but I did a 50% and will continue to do so just to keep it cleaner. Can these fish live like this??? maybe for about 4-6months... After I move back home in August (I live in an apartment right now i'm in university) I can buy another 75 gallon to put the Trimac in. Will this really effect the growth on the jag??? he is about 7 or 8 inches right now???

Just put yer trimac in the 135 with your discus...and he'll have it all to himself :)

Seriously, I think you're probably OK with the divider until summer. Figure they're getting 4.5 sq. ft. of space each, that's not great but it's acceptable I'd say.

I suppose it might effect the jag's growth, but I doubt it'd be that significant. Have they acted any different since you put in the trimac & divider? Any sign of stress? If not you should be fine unless you start seeing agression between your jags.

no, no stress at all.... the jags actually laid another batch of eggs with the Trimac living next door. The trimac suprisingly is not trying to break down the divider at all. I figured he would wanna smash it down. Although when I come near the glass then he thinks he can break through the glass LOL no one knows such thing as a glass banger until you've seen this guy. He bites during water changes LOL he has no fear of anything and is always 100% in the mood for a fight. When he was only 6" he killed my pride an joy 12" Red Devil in the middle of the night. So I didn't want to add something to the 150 (before I had jags) that he would kill again so I bought a 11" Butti because everyone talks about how tough they are and how they fight soo good.:irked: ya right guys thanks for the help lol I spent $40 on a fish that lasted a week. Trimac was only 6"!!!!!!!!!! and it wasn't like it was a slow death where I watched him beat him up for a week. It was nothing like that it was just the Trimac slowly stalking the butti like a hockey player looking for a fight. Then once the butti finally decided after a week to drop the gloves. I heard splashing like crazy in my tank and after it lasted about 20 or 30 seconds I decided to go see what it was... I come in the room the butti is just floating there breathing heavily, with the Trimac still picking at him lol I took him out into hospital tank but he didn't make it.... damages were tooo bad. Sorry i'm ranting but I had to tell you all that story lol:headbang2
