Its a 90 gal tank with a sump, FW, all water parameters are 0 when I checked this morning. Temp is at around 74.

About a month ago I noticed a few fish in the tank had a white bubble on their eyes and the edge of the fins were looking frayed. Within 10 hours the infected fish were covered in a white slime (not thick but noticeable) and the fins look more rotten which gets worse progressively until they die within 24 hours. I still had about 5 fish left that seemed unaffected by whatever killed the others. was super sad. (and for the record those fish are still alive and unaffected to this day)

I started treating with Melafix and Primafix. I did the treatment for the 7 day deal with both. I did several w/c's. Then i was given a GT about 2 weeks ago which had the EXACT thing happened to it. I treated the same way, did more w/c's cleaned everything.

Monday i bought a new tank and had to put that owner's fish somewhere so I put them in my 90 gal. Within 8 hours all the new fish became infected the EXACT same way. I immediatly began treatment with the same meds, and aquarium salt and yet still, they all died except for 2 kissing gromis that started to get whatever it is and now today seem all better when the others died? (the new dead fish were silver dollars, pleco and angels)

So if anyone can give me any incite as to what may be causing this in my 90 and what I can do to fix this?

Sorry to hear about your situation buddy it is tough when something like this tears through your pets and you cant figure it out.

Some water parameters will help us so try to get your water tested and post up the results.

In regards to your current situation. The active ingredients in melafix and pimafix have mild antibiotic properties. They will treat some bacterial infections but will have little to no effect on others. I may think of using something a bit more potent if the problem persists. Neoplex would be a medication you may want to look into, it is pretty wide spectrum.

Salt works wonders but it is important to know how much your using. The recommended dosage of 1-2 tablespoons per 5 gallons can be increased for short periods of time to have a better efficiency at treating both parasite and bacterial infections. How much salt did you add?

I started out with about 5-6 cups of salt worth because the sump is approx filled with 20gal and then after each watch change I was adding approx cup to cup and a half. (I do 15% w/c's every week)
For PH i get about 6 but for nitrite/nitrate I get 0

I will def check out and read up on Neoplex, thanks for the tip.

So far the same fish that have been living in there all along are still living and doing fine.
