I can't find a 36" shoplight

So i was thinking- if i bought a 48" shoplight, couldn't I just chop it to 36" length? Then the 36" bulbs i put in there would be slightly overdriven?
I have a 36" tank and would like between 70 and 96 watts, using 2 bulbs.

If anyone knows where i could find a 36" shoplight with reflectors and save me the trouble, do let me know. Or, if anyone sees any flaws in my plan to chop a 48", also do let me know. Thanks.

did you try walmart home depot kmart lowes and any other lhws?

ummmmmmmmmm yes. walmart, home depot, lowes, menards, and multiple locations of each at that. they barely sold any 3 foot bulbs either, and none above 6500k.
