okay, I lost all of my fish in December due to a power outage while I was gone for the holidays....and I have had no fish since then and I am going nuts, I'm going to get either the 46 or the 55 (probably the 46) out of storage in the morning, and it has black moon sand in it......I can add rock work or plants with hiding spots, I have both. It'll have an ac500 and an emperor 400 running on it, double sponges in the ac and the emperor has bio max in all 4 inserts.
So, my question is, what in the heck do I put in in that won't outgrow it. We've had to move into a much smaller place, and I think the 55 would barely fit in here, certainly nothing bigger than that though, and the 46 would be much better space wise, it's a bowfront, 3 or 3 1/2 feet long and 18" wide.
I'd like to keep the sand in there, it's not exactly easy to get all of that out, and I'm going to start cycling it in the morning as soon as I get it in here.
Another thing, it can't be anything really expensive, I love rare fish, and there are some really neat ones out there, but I can't spend more than $100 stocking this, and that is certainly pushing it, if I could spend more I would really like to try a marine set up, but that just gets way to pricey way too fast...but I love all the color.....it used to be set up as a (mbuna tank).

So, what should I throw in there? I'd kinda like to get some oddball fish, but I'm not sure how expensive that would get, or maybe try a puffer, but I know nothing about them.....thanks for your input!

I had one in with my mbunas, didn't know petsmart had them though...I think I paid $20 for mine, sheesh....what other oddballs would do well with them, they'd all be growing up together, so growth rate will come into play some where down the line I'm sure.....

and what about clown loaches, I know they are slow growers, but will they eventually out grow a 46?

It's cool your getting set up! maybe you should get a community of small aggressive fish. I say that bc they are unique? Or you could go the other way with it and make your ecosystem friendly? The smaller fish I know of are typical but you can get all types of pleco's! I once had an albino and a horned butterfly there are so so many to chose from!
