hey ive got a lil project that i wanna do on my 150 gallon tank and eventually on my 220gallon. this project is for my iridescent sharks. I do tons of research on these fish just because i want to grow them to their fullest "tank" potential. Ive read that their native waters are fast moving creeks and rivers. Ive also read that to get the most "growth" out of them, its a good idea to try to emmulate their natural habitat as closley as possible. So, what i want to do is setup some sort of powerhead low in the tank to create a current. Right now, Im runnin 2 fluval 405 canister filters which do a good job of creating a current at the top of the tank but, I want to get a current lower.
Anyone have any ideas to help me out??

For one thing, you can use vertically-oriented submersed spraybars on your canister outputs. You could also try a river-tank manifold to get good linear flow: http://www.loaches.com/articles/river-tank-manifold-design

I see no reason you couldn't have both. You could really get some good flow that way.

Just be sure to have some big rocks, driftwood, or other decor to break up the flow, so that the fish can choose how much current they want to be in. Most stream fish like to move from strong current to slow water to eddy rather than staying in the same flow regime all the time.
