yeah looks like jurupari to me but then im not really experienced with these guys so take that with a grain of salt

That's not a species. Geophagus and Satanoperca are two completely different groups of fish. ;)

I know where your going with this because of the lack of spotted lines under the dorsal correct? The lines appear to be faintly there if you zoom in on the pic. Looks like the fish is just under 5" or so, may not be very prominent. I say it's Satanoperca Leucosticta.

fishticuffs, any way you can get a pic head on just to be sure?

Yup, on smaller individuals the distinctive spots don't show up yet. I did blow it up on my 22" monitor, and saw a few speckles there, hence the size question.
 
I agree leucosticta. The spangling on the gill plates says leuco as well.
