scobinarays003.jpg

this is one of the two..am having a tough time getting a clear photo of the other..what do you experts think?? are they scobina??

Looks like scobina to me. Keep in mind there are many forms of scobina, what I mean by that is their patterns will vary. Look in the aqualog book you will see what I am talking about. 105's have many different pattern types.
Are they eating ok?

I've seen yepezi look like that, but i'm not very good at identifying the patterns

I want a Yepezi for my next ray.. they look awesome.. how much was it(roughly) and also how big do they get??

Great Ray!

Hello,

that is one of the many unclassified Rays from Peru.
Call it how ever u want ;) Some call it yepezi, some mosaic, some even mantilla.

The REAL Scobina does everything but not look close to it, and does not vary much in patern, that does only happen in the Aqualog Book because they call some Orbignyi-Variants "scobina".

And the REAL P.yepezi is from Brazil (Maracaibo) too and has a completly different pattern.

That ray has never seen a scobina.
Its a very nice ray though, I have one thats about 16" disc & was imported from Peru labeled as a Nazca by the exporter.

I would say too, that this is no scobina.
And that this is a ray from Peru.
I had once a similar one, nice and very active ray!

@AlexG
Maracaibo is in Venezuela, so the real yepezi is from Venezuela.

btw. scobina vary in coloration and maybe in size.
Some scientist say, that the small rays from Xingu that we call scobina are orbignyi. And the real scobina is a larger ray that lives in the mouth of Tocatins and Marajo Bay.
Great confusion everywhere ...
