Beautiful pup, but as all 3 posts have stated Leopards get big and need big systems. Once you have that covered you need to worry about the illegal aspect of it all. Probable shouldn't have posted the pictures. But now that you have it make sure you keep the water temperatures low, around 65 and under and ensure the water is very oxygenated.

That is a Leopard Shark. They can get up to 5ft. Triakis semifasciata

Yeah it's a Leopard Shark. Males get to about 5 ft, Females can actually reach 6-6.5 ft.

As stated above - it's generally illegal to own or buy a leopard in the U.S. unless it over 36" long, or captive bred (and can be proven as such). The only other exception would be Public Aquariums, which have special premits that allow them to keep animals that are usually considered illegal.

Great looking shark. FYI take down the picture. California DNR pays people to look at all of these sites to look for what you just posted. If you are caught you run the risk of extremely heavy fines. Good luck, great shark. I have had many in years past and they are great.

Ohh damn i didnt know, This shark is going back as soon as possible because we also caught a 9" halibit and i threw that back in because i knew it had to be a certain size in order to take. Well me and my friend are going fishing again on wednesday so she'll be back in the sea by then.

It's sort of a "catch 22"....It's also illegal to reintroduce it back now that you've had it. I'll talk to some people and see if I can help you out without any legal issues.
