I.D. Please S. Rhombeus or not?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
how large, they do look rather elongated when younger but that changes with maturity

Look like Serrasalmus Gibbus to me.

long boby shape like elong, orange to yellowish gill. Black to white tail. Gibbus. But that's just me,

i see a bit of baring on the spots, could be a compressus imo.

on the other hand the body shape is more of a rhombeus look.

post this up on p-fury and ask frank to ID.

What is the collection point? If it from Peru it would be compressus...but some how it look like Altuvie in the last pic.

Appears to me to be a rhom. imo definately not gibbus. May be compressus but won't know for sure until it grows out a bit.

how can you people tell if its a rhom or not? is it like those people that can like tell the snake's sex by looking at them? or specific parts? in the serra family.. they all look the same to me xD

As for pygo are very easy to ID because of only a few species. But for Serrasalmus and other family are very hard, especially when they young. then tend to look a like when they are small.

If you want to know for sure, you need to know what and where are the collection point for the piranha for proper ID, otherwise it's all guessing.
