My local LFS has these and they range in size from 5" to about 7". The pattern looks a little like a tiger but I am not sure. Any help would be great

I BELIEVE THOSE ARE WHAT ARE REFERRED TO AS "TEACUP RAYS". I NEVER DID HAVE ANY LUCK WITH THOSE RAYS.

Teacup ray is just refering to the size of the ray, but that isn't what kind of ray it is. I don't know what they are but they look cool.

need to see the tails to ID properly

I would say Reticulata.. could be some morph, but as common as 'teacup' retics are, that would be my guess.. They have a real nice pattern though.

Tiger Rays usually don't live through Importation at the 5-7" range.. and if they did, they would have an outragous price tag, and a LFS usually dosn't have that kind of overhead to work with. Definately not a tiger for these reasons, IMO.

Most LFS are novice raykeepers, and they will order whatever ray is cheapest and will turn the biggest profit, and presents a reasonable price for the customers. Flowers and Castexis probably wouldn't fit this description..

I see atleast 3 different rays there, which if they were one of the rarer species, that would be a very EXPENSIVE order for a LFS. ie: 3-4 castexis even at wholesale will run you quite a few hundred bucks, and most LFS don't spend that kind of money on regular retail orders. (Maybe special orders..pre-sold, that kind of thing..)

The one ray where you can see just the rim of the disc on the left I would guess to be a humerosa or motoro 'peru' with the spotting, but not a Castexi.. They are too expensive to Export and Wholesale for a LFS to be dealing with on that kind of scale.. I really think they are some of the less expensive and small variety of rays. Not to mention, Castexis and Flowers are pretty hard to come by at that small of a size (larger species in the first place), especially 3-4 of em.. and usually if they are that small they are very skinny from neglect at wholesalers and purging from delivery, and show a pale nearly transparent disc, and these guys do not..

Retics with some real nice patterns is still my guess.. :)
