It was with oscars and jack dempseys and ive never seen it and I liked it since he followed me :P can anyone tell me what it is? Ill repost more pics when I get home and can take better ones since hes in a bag -.- thanks :)

I was told it was a yellow acara but they also thought it was an umbee and after debating told me it was a yellow acara. But when I looked at yellow acaras online they looked alot differnet than this one

First thought is one of the port cichlids, Cichalasoma sp.
 
Thats good to know because ive got my stepdad saying its a tilapia and looks big enough to eat lol

Tank pics would be better but I'd agree that it's one of the port cichlid types, Cichlasoma sp.
 
Everytime I get near the tank he/she hides behind the ornaments -.- was $20 a good deal? Its about 5-6 inches if I had to guess. First time I saw it was 3 weeks ago and it would follow me. This time it was more shy and the fin was a little torn. Theres not much info except that there like severums in agressiveness which isnt much

Because your photo is upside down and very dark, I lightened it a bit and made it easier to see.
I does look like a port type, but in order to tell what of a dozen or so species in the group are, an entire side view will be helpful.
