Anyone know what this 'weed' is? I'm pretty sure it's in the thistle family, but that's all. They are normally twice as full of petals. They fall off very easily.IMAG0058.JPGIMAG0064.JPGIMAG0065.JPG TIA.

No one knows ? I guess all the college people are on vacation, from MFK too ? I wanted to know because I like having 'weeds' in one of my corner gardens, that attract butterflies. I wanted to know if I can just transplant one of these, or do I have to wait a few months, to find the dried seeds, and plant those? I'm not familiar with these at all.

Weeds is a college study subject lol ? It is a nice looking plant but I don't recall ever seeing one like it before and don't know what it is.I have a few weeds that I allow to grow in my front yard and they seem to get the most attention from passers by.

These weeds were actually planted on a hillside near downtown PortWashington, WI. There are a few new roads, cutting through old to the oldest streets, so the Fire Dept. has a quicker 'response time'. Both sides of the new road have hills planted with really pretty weeds, for seeds for birds to eat. They were grown through a fine mesh/dirt combo, grew extremely quickly, and tall. I figured if I pick one.......I would be the only one in 200 years to get a ticket for it! I'm just that lucky, yes! They seem to be drying or dieing down now, so I'm going by like once a week to see if they have seeds inside when they are totally dry. Getting seeds is not the same as 'picking' them, right? Hmm....

Maybe it is Monarda or bee balm. It is usually contained in wildflower mixes though I haven't seen that color before. It is beautiful.

Christine, no problem. I couldn't find a link to the particular color flower that Tracy posted, so your post is very welcome to see. Thanks.

You might also like spider lilies...they're absolutely stunning and comes in many shades, my neighbors have them all over their yard (and tell me all the time how much the humming birds love them). Example:

Or you might like cleome:

Just a few other options in case you can't get your hands on seeds for the bee balm. :)
