I am falling in love with this fish FAST!!!! He likes sinking pellets A lot It is the only thing he eats. I have him in a bare bottom now 100 gallons. Are they known to escape? The tank has a space where the modifiable plastic strip should be. I have a million laying around so I could seal it up. Do all Africans have a white sheen to their eyes? I hear they have bad eye sight so it could just be part of being primitive. I measured him, he is 17" tip to tip. How fast do they grow? Will he kill a super large or any plec? Does anyone have anything with their Africans? Thanks in advance to whoever takes on all of my questions....:)

Thanks I love him. I will get some pics of him in the tank upstairs when the water settles more from the gravel removal.

Bump for some inside fine tune input :) He seems to be VERY active. And his turds are friggen huge. I thought I had a lil baby lungfish when I woke up, and nope it was the biggest turd I have ever seen :)

:hitting: I understand how you would have thought you had a baby lungfish. Lungfish turds are kinda huge. Nice lungfish by the way!

Hmm somehow I missed this tread..great looking lung you have there.
And yes most lungs will kill their tankmates.....and the story about the bad eye sight is true...and no I have not seen this white sheen in their eyes before...but I have Albino's and they have red eyes..But from the pics I have seen on the internet this is not normal.....ow and it won't hurt if you would lower the waterlevel...some how I get the feeling they enjoy a lower waterlevel in their tanks..(this is not written in stone) it it just my observation...if you lower it by 50% it is also harder for it to escape.....you know I have been reading stuf on the internet about lungs being great escapers...but one of my lungs tried to leave the tank when I moved it to his new tank.(he tried it for about a week)..but it only got out of the water about 5 or 6 inches max..and it is a 3 ft lungfish...so I can't realy imagine them being great escape artist...but again this is just my observation and not written in stone..maybe my lungs are just stupid...who knows......

p.s. please ignore the spelling I'm not a native speaker.;)
