so my experiment trying to get my 6 inch spotted gar hooked onto wax worm. and the results where great! when i first bought wax worms from petco i threw 1-3 at a time into the tank hoping my spotted gar will eat them. my gar swam up to it and took a sniff and wasnt interested in them. so wat i did was i got a little needle and i poked the wax worm with it so he can "bleed" so my gar can smell the wax worm. the wax worm was squirming on top of the water and my gar had interest in it. he swam up to the wax worm sniffed it then ate it! 
. ive been doing it for the past week now and it works. now my gar could eat something more nutritious rather than eating feeder gold fish or feeder guppies. just wanted to share so you gar keepers can feed your gars something nutritious. a question for you gar keepers. do you guys feed you gars insects such as crickets, wax worms, meal worms, etc?
