A man in Florida could face up to a year in federal prison and a $50,000 fine after witnesses said they saw him kill an endangered smalltooth sawfish by removing the long, flat saw that gives the fish its name.

Its no surprise to me. A lifetime of hunting and fishing has taught me that 90% of hunters and fishermen give no thought to conservation, but rather spend more time, energy, and money flouting the laws that protect wild animals than observing, or even learning them. Its unfortunate but true.

The fisherman here probably just thought "this things got a cool head, I'll cut it off to show to my buddies."
