i just got a 210 gal tank in. starting to set up about next week.
and im debating wat i should run it with. has anyone ever used the fluval Fx5's?
its either that or 2 Rena Xp4's and suggestions?

do you have the holes for overflow? sump would be best but otherwise go for several big cannisters. eheim would be my choice, but ive heard the tetratec1200 seems to be good too. wouldnt use fluval even if it was my last choice.

I have a 240 that I just got running and I have a wet dry on it, set up was easy and it works great.

:headbang2 Congrats on the new tank!! Guess it depends on a couple of things. Is it pre-drilled? If yes, then sump would be the way to go. How deep are your pockets? Eheim has the Pro III, 2260, 2250, Fluval has the FX5, Rena Filstar has the XP4 or maybe one of the modular canister set-ups from Ocean Clear, Nu Clear, Lifegard ect. Are we going 'bigboy fish' ? Fresh or salt? Full house or just a few w/ a lot of rm. to roam? The answers to these & other ques. will dictate which & how much filtration. Don't have personal exp. w/ FX5 but my downstairs neighbor says she loves it on her 175gl. If the XP4 follows in the footsteps of the XP3 (I have) you should do well. Eheim has always been just out of my reach but most accounts rate them very well. Maybe others can give more first hand exp. Good Luck, "T"

Moneygetter1 is right, but to get around all that, just get a filtration setup that is more than you actually need. If you have 200 gal tank, get enough filtration for 300, makes things a whole lot easier, besides it smart to over filtrate then under filtrate.

thanks guys i think im gonna go for the wet/dry. and a couple power heads.
yea my tank is a reef ready so it came pre drilled.

gotta go with wet/dry then... but why not throw a cannister on there too? you can never have enough filtration

good choice imo anything over a hundred gallons justifies looking at a wet dry unless its a planted tank lightly stocked..
