So I got a new tank and feel like a kid in a candy store.

It is a 125 gallon and is the largest tank I have owned (yet) lol. I need some tankmates for my SA cichlids :)

Right now it has a lot of fish from the previous owner (mixed SA and African cichlids ugh) but luckily I already found new homes for the 19" pleco, one 7" oscar and one 11" oscar, the 20 or so Africans, 2 syno, 1 Raphael cat, and one poor beat on female JD.

Currently there is my long fin oscar, and my pair of JDs (staking a claim and digging holes, can 6-7" JD mate yet?) that will be staying and I MIGHT be saving a 7 inch pleco from a 10 gallon.

Now for my question, I need inspiration for some tankmates lol. I was wanting an arowana but after a little research see that they will need a bigger tank (I plan on a large upgrade in about a year to a 300+ but hesitate to get a fish before I have the tank, I also want it to be a jardini which I heard may kill the cichlids:(). Then I though maybe a bichir (probably an ornate) but wonder if the cichlids will beat it to death. I may just keep the 11" tiger oscar but wonder if two oscars and a pair of JDs would be a good idea. Maybe a green terror or pair of convicts... hmm... so many choices lol. Maybe something I have not even thought about yet! Something that would clean up after the messy cichlids would be nice lol.

So many possibilities...

Oh, filtation is a large sump and pair of Rena XP3

Peacock bass are always awesome

I thought they got a little big for a 125 without any tankmates, am I remembering wrong?

buy one small and since you said in our original post "yet" just upgrade before he gets to big for your tank, trust me they are one the best fish to keep. and a cichla

Thats the best feeling, kid in a candy store. new tank, biggest size yet. It's soo exciting. :)

with the current stock, there are many cichlid species that would be compatible, mostly medium sized species of moderate aggression, like large acaras or H. nicaraguense

why dont you get a school of tinfoils or pangasius sharks, they would look good in your tank a few finger monos or scats can also adapt to freshwater, mine are doing very well.

Do you think this would be overstocked? I started using Purigen and it has been amazing (tap water comes out 10-15ppm nitrate and with purigen I am below 5ppm after a few days)

2 jacks
1 long fin O
1 Ornate Bichir
and maybe 5 silver dollars?
I am using some Giant Danios (was 6 and after one was gobbled by the O down to 5) and would like to switch to silver dollars but don't want crazy water changes.

And what kind of silver dollars which be good? I want some cheaper dithers so the $50 silver dollars are out lol.

my ornate and endli do well with my oscar. he pretty much leaves them alone
