I bought 8 juvie grammodes from Rapps about a month ago and put them in a growout tank by themselves. No, with a single 2" baby clown loach. One by one they've been dying off and now I'm down to just 1. I tried this same thing about 6 months ago with the exact same results. I want an awesome big Grammodes so bad but have absolutely no luck raising them.

How is your water? Have you tested it? Losing fifteen fish from a reputable source in that amount of time just doesn't add up. There has to be more to it.

i feel you rpain, big grammodes are so amazing and so rare, just loseing any small cichlid that has such huge potential is a kick in the balls.

what were your water param's, and what size tank?
the whole batch could have already been infected with something when jeff collected them,
but this is good to hear because i've been planing on getting a few from him in the near future. so i'll watch out.

It's a 30 gallon growout tank. My water parameters are fine, I'm not a green pea fish keeper. I've been keeping cichlids with great success for over 10 years. Do baby grammodes require a certain diet?? I've never had a problem with Jeff's cichlids except the Grammodes.

too bad, big g's are so rare

Is it because they all die as juveniles? I can't seem to grow them out. I'm down to the last one...he's about and 1.5". I'm praying he'll make it but have my doubts.

I have had luck with Grammys and have even just given away 5 of them, they got to 3-4" and DANG! the are killers! I have generally given them Mysis, Hikari Bio-Gold, Tetra Cichlid Sticks, Krill, and Blood Worms. I have had only 1 loss of my group of 7.

But ask me to keep Clown Loaches???

That's the kiss of Death..........Hard to figure out...

Im good with Cichlids, but the Simple, peacefull Clown Loach? I kell em all!

Sorry for your loss, don't give up!

Hey I have 2 after all. One was hiding really well earlier or sleeping or something. That's still 6 out of 8 that have died. Is my 30 gallon too small for them? They're less than 1.5", closer to an inch. In any other tank, they'll be a tasty little morsel so the 30 is all I have now. Water params check. Temp 82 degrees. Any suggestions or advice on the care of baby grammodes would be greatly appreciated.

*edit* I just re-read the posts and I didn't mean to sound like a jerk earlier. Thanks for all the kind words you guys.

Nuth I would have happily paid a hefty fee for some 3-4"-ers if you had a few extra for me.
