i got a new ornate but there maybe something wrong

where i dont wanna be
so i responded to an ad locally for some free cichlids and a bichir, the guy said they were 5+ inches and when i got there to pick him up i was excited to find out he was 14-15 inches. my only problem is the majority of the time he swims with his spine bent, is this normal?
 
hhmm do you have any pics?
 
alot of the time he has the back 1/4 of his body bent downwards at about a 30 degree angle, he does straighten out but not very often
 
Not sure what bent spine means but when i first got my ornate he couldn't stay upright for the first few days in my tank he kept rolling over and swimming upsidedown, then after that he was perfectly fine.
 
might be injured or even sick, but would want to see pics first.
 
ohh i know whats wrong that happened to one of my gouramis it ran into the glass and always swam in circles and had its back bent or it might be a bacterial infection or he could of broken a bone
