I got a about a 12-13" Channel Catfish as a rescue from the pet store for $5, and is currently residing in the 55 gallon as a small grow out before I go to a pond and can get him bigger. Is that actually a good deal for about a foot long channel cat? He was scared up and missing his top fin.

they had one that sounds just like that at my lfs his top fin got bitten off by a marbeled pim, thats what i paid for a 3 inch channal cat myself so imo its a great pickup

In El Paso, we have no lakes. They're not native here at all. I find it a sweet deal because of its size and price. Plus, he's doing so far so good with the other fish, he's really jumpy though and freaks out a lot.

check ur water temperature. these cats needs colder water.
Crappp my tank right now without the heater is 89 degrees. I need to somehow get it down and it's kinda weird the tank being that warm.
