I had been wanting to pick up a senegal/my first birchir for awhile. Unfortunately the good LFS's only seem to stock albinos and i'm impatient.
Luckily I already had a 20g long quarantine, as I had to buy the bichir at Petsmart. Can't complain about the $5.99USD price tag though.
It's in the quarantine with a small angel (recovering from fin rot) that it ignores, an apple snail, a small school of 9 Neon Tetras, and about 20 ghost shrimp. I plan to move more of the Neons from my main tank to the new tank once the angel and senegal start eating them, The ghost shrimp are the clean up crew, and also will serve as food once the two fish get bigger.
The senegal is a cute little guy, about 3 inches long. It's happily eating bloodworms and exploring only a few hours post-acclimation.
