I happend across this interesting fellow while getting new bulbs at the LFS, I'm nearly certain hes a hybrid of some sort but he looked so unique, I had to have him anyways. I've been hoping that he'd come up as a clean species, but the more I research the less likely that is...

So far, he has the coloring of a certain Trewavasse (forgot which at the moment), but is missing the pronounced snout. His body shape though resembles that of a Ps. Elongatus. If he were a trewavasse, do their snouts grow as they age or do they always have one?... I've never personally kept one, so I don't know.

What's yalls take on it????

Awesome colors RIGHT?!?!
 
The only thing that comes to mind with those colors is a rusty, but that's not it. Possibly a hybrid?
 
Looks like it could be a male in the middle of changing color. I have some young male Met. membe deep that look very similar right now.
 
HEY HEY HEY... just bumped the hell out of this thread, but I found some good news today... This fish ID has been a pain in my behind for almost an entire month... I finally got around to calling the LFS where I bought him, and asked the owner if I could see her order form for the stock at the end of last month... being a very good friend of mine she said sure... I got a list of all of the cichlids that came in. And only 1, I had previously never heard of came up. I hit up the trusty Species Profile @ Cichlid-Forum which is a very handy tool sometimes... and I found the name and BAM!!!... almost Exactly what hes looking like now...

thanks hes put on a little weight since I took the pictures... maybe 1/2" longer... hes a quick little booger too... I try to take a picture, but when the little light on the camera comes on he bolts... I'll get a recent pic up when I can
 
yeah it was old man withers... he said he woulda gotten away with it if it wasnt for those pesky kids and their dog lol
