Just about the worst start to a Sunday morning for any hobbyist except maybe for a burst seam.
Came downstairs and noticed an unnatural shape in the tank. Looking closer absolute bummer. The mbuna was the oldest in the tank at roughly 7 years old. Little surprised as it was completely fine yesterday but we all know this stuff happens.
pulled him out of the tank and this is what I find. Man sometimes having Africans is tough. That is my albino eye biter in his mouth. I can’t believe he even tried to eat that fish.

I've seen that sort of thing before. Lol. Sooner or later it's going to happen when keeping Cichlids or other predator fish.

I have had it happen before just stinks. The mbuna wasn’t the prettiest fish but I really wanted to see how long I could have him. I think he still had a few years left.

Just goes to show that Mbuna aren't the true vegetarians that many advocate.
Well of course not. Like with all cichlid groups, there is variety among the species in their eating methods. Some are herbivores, but there's plenty that are at least omnivores by nature and the lure of an easy to catch fish that fits (or they think will fit) into their mouths will always be tempting.
