My "pair" have finally started being a little less shy when I sit in front of the tank, here is a quick shot from tonight, the female, she is starting to show an orange blaze around her "shoulder" spot. I am going to assume that these would be considered the Rio Atababo Lent, just like most of the ones that have come to the hobby this past season. Please tell me what you think :D

She looks completely different from mine. . . thicker bars, larger, fewer spots. Its possible you have the 'Rio Atabapo' variant and I have the 'Rio Orinoco' variant.

What are your parameters? I think I've got mine in harder, higher pH water. Might be effecting their coloration, but it shouldn't effect it that much. LoL

Course, yours looks about 3 to 4" larger than mine. My little lassie is just now pushin 7".

Either way, they are both gorgeous, and definitely need to be documented as they 'level up'. Hahaha.

I'm not sure which varient I have, I was hopeing that someone would come on here and tell me I am out to lunch :D This pair is all of 12" and complete evil a-holes to any tankmates that I give them to play with LOL My water is fairly hard, pH between 7.5-8.0, I have been adding some RO but, I won't push full RO until I get them good and thick and try to spawn them. These two are pretty picky eaters, frozen Krill and feeder Swordtails are about all they will take, usually, once in a while a worm will make the cut.

P.S. - I think that yours will grow into the same look as mine, my group of 5 had two that were about 8" and they were more "flowered", the bars got thicker and darker as they settled and grew - the small ones have all been eliminated now. . . :(

Upon lookin at them last night and today, I believe you are spot on mate. So we both have 'Rio Atabapo' then!! Awesome!!

The male is starting to get the thick barring, and his rosettes are starting to spread along his back. Still no 'orange blaze' showing yet.

The female is just starting to barely spread out a bit now. Her rosette is growing larger, but still hasn't started going down her back yet like the male. The flowers on her back are starting to spread though!! Yay!

Keep the pictures coming!! Gives me something more to look forward to!!!
