Hi there
I hate doing self intros but its about time I made an account, i've been lurking long enough.
my name is Kat.
im 23
I live in toronto (ontario, CA)
my tanks are a combination of my love of the exotic, whats available in my area, and a little rebellion from mother as I now seem to get all the neat things I never was allowed to as a child (silly i know)
I'm an entertainment manager. I manage talent, plan and host events, consultations, etc. I attended uni and college for the performing arts and film. I plan in returning and taking the polar opposite - sciences, either bio or more to the arts side and into the abnormal mind... not sure yet, but I have been nudged by those close to me to specialize more in marine bio. depending on money and the first semester of school (aiming for spring start if i can get in) we'll see where it goes.
My current fish tanks are:
1) 4.5 f X 2.5 f X 2.5 f, heated "Blackwater" freshwater tank, with 2 Fluval 405 canister filters and a foreign brand submersible UV filter similar to the Fluval meant for up to a 100 g tank. I mention the excessive filtration on this tank due to its inhabitants, one of them especially stands as a heavy weight in the needs of such.
currently housing:
Potamotrygon motoro
Mikrogeophagus ramirezi
Epalzeorhynchos bicolor
Balantiocheilos melanopterus
Pantodon buchholzi
Apteronotus albifrons
Gymnothorax polyuranodon
Discus
Angels
2) 45 g long.
Currently housing:
Pangasius sanitwongsei
Pangasianodon hypophthalmus (albino)
Pseudoplatystoma sp. hybrid
Platydoras armatulus
Megalodoras uranoscopus
Auchenipterichthys coracoideus
Pimelodus ornatu
Ctenolucius hujeta
3) - Fluval Chi (tall), Brackish
housing:
spotted Green puffer
figure 8 puffer
4) custom indoor pond....
Japanese Butterfly Koi
couple of fancy tailed goldfish.
I could be wrong in the scientific names of some... please forgive
My common-law hubby and I plan on installing another tank, it will be custom done to fit basically the size of a long hallway closet... We've had contractors in to check the floor supports and knock out a portion of the wall. The only thing holding us back is not money but my level of confidence in maintaining a salt water tank... Ive never done salt before, I've gotten quite comfortable with brackish but never had the chance yet to do salt and so I am educating myself more before the glass is installed and first drop of water put in.
I look forward to interacting with everyone and sharing with you all
