They might be male and female they always had different coloration and body shape, the yellower one was always dominant even though it was a little smaller, they got along fine until the darker one just went nuts today.
I put the larger one back in and he went right back to following the smaller one around and jaw locking, this all started right after I took all the plants and decor out , vacumed gravel and water change, I rearanged everything also.
Not probably, they are courting. All this behavior is normal in this stage. Just keep an eye on them. It always starts out rough lol but I bet by end of next week you'll have fry. Worse case scenario, you can still breed thru the divider.
Having a breeding pair of any mid/large size Fish isn't all that great. My breeding jaguars are very aggressive . when I try to feed they will lung out at me. Just yesterday my male jag jumped out of tank while trying to attack.
Yeah I am keeping a eye on them , it was kind of rough at first but they calmed down and busy digging a hole, im trying to decide if I want them to breed because I dont know if I want to deal with the aggression towards my other fish. I only have female convicts for this exact reason.
