so i had my mom stop by the nearest petco, which is on the complete other side of town, because she was in that area. I had here buy 6 feeders. When she got home, 1 fish was dead and at least 2 were covered in ick. I called petco to complain and talk to the lady that sold them to my mom. My mom said when she was paying she noticed the dead fish and asked the lady if it would infect the others and the lady told her NO! and she said that it was alright that fish died because she gave a couple extras, which wasnt even true. There was a total of 7 fish when i got the bag and one was dead making that 6. when i called the lady told me i was wrong and that there were ten fish in the bag. She then said that there were no dead fish when she handed my mom the bag and she said none were coverd in ick. So supposedly one fish died and 2 got ick from walking from the feeder tank to the cash register. I cannot believe people like this. She was not apologetic at all and could care less about the situation. It made me incredibly frustrated which is why i wrote this. Anyway to cut to the chase NEVER EVER go to petco.

I would 1st talk to the manager and explain what happened, then call their corporate office. If you do nothing, then you are enabling them to do it to their next victim! Each Petco is different and I would not be so quick to slam all of them because of what you experienced. Yes, what they did is wrong, and the girl lying about it is wrong too. Sorry for your terrible experience, and no, I don't work for Petco! Just my 2 cents.
How can you complain about a fish that costs 10 cents having ich. In my experience all feeder fish are kept in terrible conditions regardless whether it was a LFS a big LFS or even petsmart or petco. But in reality you paid less than a dollar for these fish is it really worth getting upset about it?
i could care less about the money...the point is i did not want to drive 25 min across town to return them which is why my mom got the in the first place. and i completely understand feeders get diseases, but that still doesnt make it ok to sell dead fish to an older lady who doesnt know anythin about fish(my mom). I also tried to talk to the manager and it turned out the lady was the manager on duty and when i asked to talk to the store manager she would not let me.
chain stores suck except this one where they have a pretty P.R. girl getting the feeders(she got a african booty)
