Today I was fishing for trout and I caught a 12" trout with huge belly. Got curious what is inside the belly so I cut it open and I pulled out this.....

The trout was unable to excrete the plastic worm out. That trout would be my fourth fish that has plastic worm inside them. I once found a starving bass that has 4 plastic worms in him and I think they were in his stomach for ages......perhaps more than a year. Some people really need to start using biodegradable plastic worms.

Ill keep that in mind next time I go fishing I usually always have a live worm on the end if i'm gonna pull one up might as well have a nice last meal.

I just started getting into fishing, and after using fake worms a couple of times found I had better luck with the real thing. After seeing this I can confidently say I have no real reason to use fake.

Sadly I only use plastic, but in recent years I've only lost a couple of worms that were yanked off the hook with no fish attached. And I mean a couple, maybe a dozen in 7 years. Probably because since I got big into fishing after my motorcycle accident I only use 5/0 EWG hooks and zoom baits. The C or U tail (or partial tail/worm) being ripped off. I can't begin to count.

Live shiners however, is nearly a 1 out of 4 goes missing off the hook. Poor way to spend $9-$22 per dozen depending on size and farm raised vs caught.

i barely use em, i usually use live bluegills and shiners 3-5 inches long, get nice bass and pikes

what kind of bad bass fisherman lets the bass eat their plastic worms? i live by them and never have a bass eat one! maybe people should learn to rig and set the hook better!

I just done with the research on fish that eats plastic and turns out that trout and bass regularly consumed plastics than other species.

i caught a rock bass and filleted it and found the same thing. No picture but kept it in my tackle box
