what kind of filteration would be best for a 55g tank with a JD and severum... pref cheap and affective =] hand on the back or canister give me some good advice thanks

What kind of power filter are you running right now? What I did was, over the weekend, went to pet supply plus to buy another dual power filter for my 55 gallon.I bought a Marineland pengiun 350.It cost me 35 dollars on sale. The original powerfilter that I have hooked up right now came with the 55 gal.tank kit.Which works ok,but the marineland pengiun 350 is awesome. Also you can use a canister, but in my opinion,a canister is worth having when you decide to upgrade to a 90 gallon or above fish tank.

Kind of a broad question but if your looking for a general answer, I just got rid of my 55g but I ran a Rena XP3 canister for bio and a HOT mag 250 for mechanical, great combo. An AC110 would also be a nice HOB if you don't like the HOT mags..

so going with a HOB vs canister wats the cost dif to maintain, iv never really dealt with a canister B4 so i kno nothing about them

Everyones set up is different to be honest, its what comes down to what you truly want for your set up.I find running both dual power filters,to be good enough, on top of that a 20% to 30% water change a week.Severums are awesome gentle fishes,I hope the Jack Dempsey, doesn't try to bully the severum around.

yeah im hoping i buy a aggresive one and a lax jd GL on that tho hahaha will find out sooner or later

this pretty much sucks but the closest thing i have to a petstore were i live is a walmart... and they sale a brand aqua tech i believe its rated at 30 - 60 any one have any exp with these and how well will they perform if i have 2 of them

that is what my power filter is,to come think about it.Its a Aqua Tech, its ok to be honest.Try doing a location search on petco or petsmart.

Buy online and get what you want the first time. You won't regret it. Spend the money up front on setup or your end up spending more later on to get what you wanted to begin with..

Rena canisters are cheap and reliable, if cost is not much of an issue have a look at the Eheim 2217 classic canister. They are wonderful filters ;)
