Is it acceptable to feeding small pieces of fish fillets to small community fish such as barbs and tetras. I had a catfish fillet last night and I feed few pieces to the cave tetras....is that healthy for them? They went feeding frenzy on the fillet.

I frankly can't say for sure how great it is for the fish but I know for a fact that my tiger barbs eat a diet that is ~70% fish and crustaceans, as they're the clean up crew for my very messy fahaka puffer.

Again, not sure of the long term health effects, but the visible results are some really really fat little barbs (they're more like wedges than barbs at this point) with the REDDEST fins I've ever seen, due to all the shrimp they eat.

They do look better when I fed them with fish fillet than the flakes.

I'm not 100% sure either, but I would just do it as a treat. Variation in the diet is always great. I'd stick with a high nutrition flake food and then add something differen such as fillet 3-4 times a week.

Yes its protien, you still need to suplement flakes or pellets.

My Silver dollars are supposed to be omnivores yet they won't eat lettuce or algae wafers but they love massivore. They seem happy so as long as it's in moderation I dont see a problem with it.

I do feed them flakes two times a day, while they're getting frozon mysis & bloodworm three times a week. Sometimes I throw an aglae wafer there once in a while. They usually get some fish fillet IF I am planning to have a fish fry dinner lol

Nah I don't feed them cooked fish. just few pieces of raw fish fillets
