I have a coconut

and it is down to the brown fibrous husk. Not yet cracked open so the meat and juice is still in there.
What am i supposed to do to make this aquarium safe? after cracking and scraping out the meat, am i supposed to treat it like driftwood and boil it?

i plan on letting java moss grow on it. any tips would be appreciated.

Boil it and remove all the flesh, then basically stick it in the tank with the Riccia, Java, Anubias attached to it and leave

How big of a coconut?

Depending on the tools at your disposal you can drill a large hole with hole saw (4") then cut it in half thru the center of the hole, leaving you with 2 halves with a 2" semi-circular doorway, then clean and boil as you said. Or leave it complete with just the hole. I have made the hole with either a hammer or machete' also but not as accurate (it never seems to work out like the nature shows )
