hi i want to get a fw ray
i was wondering what kind would i be able to house in a 210gallon tank with 5 orino pbass, 1 occel pbass, 1 silver aro?
would i be able to use pool sand with a ray?
how long will i be able to keep the ray in the tank?
the tank is 72 inch long x 24.5 wide x 29 high

Thanks again Miles!

You would probably be able to house one in that size tank for a very long time, just like the Silver Aro.. but eventually all of those fish will get over 3 feet in total length, which I am sure you are fully aware..

Your other biggest issue would be feeding the rays and your bioload.. you will have a hard time getting foods like shrimp down to the bottom of the tank.. and if you have to 'overfeed' the bass just to get them to stop eating so the rays can get food, then you will have ammonia spike issues.. and even if you handle that, you will have an insane amount of water changes to do..

It's possible.. but I wouldn't recommend it for someone new to rays. Much easier to establish the ray first and then add the bass later.

I agree with miles, I have one 24" aro and hardly any food gets down to the bottom so I always feed double what i need to

gonna need a hard core water cange schedule with that bio load as well....

I've never had pbass in with my rays, but I know silver aros work. I would get a second tank for the ray, and add the aro later.

A small ray that is very hardy, beautiful and doesn't kill the wallet is a reticulated river ray. Good choice if you don't mind taking the time to break those little suckers to new foods. I would check the stingray profiles linked to above, and work it from there.

Best of luck to you!
