I have a problem coming up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
For future you might consider to get some type of ac/dc air pump that will automatically switch to back-up if the power goes out. We have a decent number of outages here, esp. during monsoon season, and these make my life so much easier, esp. if I'm not at home when power goes out. I have them on all of my tanks, hooked up to big sponge filters and/or air stones. They cost more and are bigger than comparable flow regular pumps, but worth it imho.

Well, it’s Thursday. Now we wait to see what happened.

Lol I think commenting on this thread cursed me: today we had 2 short outages (10 & 20 min.), no big deal. But then this evening it went out for nearly 4 hours. I have UPS on each tank but they ran out after about 30 min., then had to bring out a battery and inverter to keep canisters and/or internal pumps running on 4 tanks.

But the ac/dc pumps did their job well, was glad to have them running independently as 12v battery maybe wasn't fully charged and was getting low pretty fast even without any air pumps connected.

A few years back my power went out for almost a whole day. I had a hang on back filter (AC110) for my goldfish. Every little while I took a plastic cup and scooped tank water and dumped it into the filter box so it would pour into the tank. This adds food to the filter and oxygen to the tank.
Probably didn’t even need to do it but it kept me busy.
