the question is my retic ray at night goes to the top of the tank and starts to flop around but in the morning he is fine so whats going on with my ray?

Is he just swimming up and down the glass and popping out the top glidding back to the bottom, because that is pretty normal. Also mine are more active at night than during the day. I'm pretty sure they like low light better. Good luck with yours!
I have heard that a ray flopping its disk on the surface is a happy ray. If your ray is swimming all around I would not be scared. It is when they stay buried you want to worry.
Mine usually go up and down the glass right after they have eaten. I guess to work off some of their meal.
