usually from petsmart/co they are in bad health but most likely the lfs will actually take care of them... so depends on if theres dead fish in the tank they are prob unhealthy and if its clean and no dead fish, its probably safe.

use fresh seafoods from the market instead, much healthier alternative

PetSmart and you LFS will get their feeders from similar companies that just breed them in bad environments and provide the cheapest food to be able to make profits from them.

Just because theirs no dead fish in the tank doesnt mean an employee didn't take them out.


If you really want to use feeders just breed your own. But dont feed them as a staple diet.

As others said market shrimp.fish fillets are your best alternative.

agree with the above, the feeders in pretty much all LFS come from the same sources (Segrest, etc) as those that the big stores do.
