Well i have a proclear aquatics wet/dry 300 and the only mechanical filtration i have for it is the one large filter pad at the top. I was thinking b/c of the limited space and flow capacity of the lid/driptray. What if i added different types of filter pads, The top would be the one that catches the largest things, and the bottom layer would be the polishing pad for fine particles, In between the bioballs, and making it somehow that cleaning is a snap. Would this effect the beneficial bacteria living on the bioballs in anyway? It would be set up like this

__________________Large particle pad

@@@@@@@@@@@@@Bio Balls

__________________Medium-small particle filter pad

WILL THIS WORK? What do you think?????????????????????????

It's gona be a pain if you do that. You gonna be removing your bioballs everytime you change your pads. Just put the fine filter pad on top and wash it every week. That's what i did in my w/d

i agree, unless you set up a basket system to hold all the bioballs together, its gonna be a real pain to change the pads. besides, you really want all your pads to catch the crap before it comes to the bio balls, i would run the large pad on top, then right below do the medium, then fine, then bio balls, that way you catch all the excess food and fish waste particles BEFORE it has a chance to clog up the bio balls. just my thoughts
