Hey everybody. Here's the story. I have a 17in CK by himself in a 125g. I have a 7in koi in my 46g. Now, we all know that KOI get on average around 2feet. And CK's get around 2feet as well. I have had my CK for over a year and he has been with other fish and wasnt a jerk or anything. You all know where Im going with this lol. Can I put the KOI in with the CK right now, meaning at 7in or wait till he gets larger?? Thank you.

i wouldn't risk it if it looks like it can fit in its mouth it probably will get eaten. if you decide to try it make sue to have alot of surface agitation since im pretty sure koi are cold water fish

Thank you for your response. Yea, they are cold water, but also warm. Koi are usually kept in ponds so they have to deal with the different temperatures of different seasons. Right now im simulating a summer season cuz the water in the 46g is 78-80, same as the 125g. I talked to a KOI owner in the native and cold water fish part of this forum and he said it was fine. That the KOI is just going to grow really fast which is what im aiming for. I have surface agigation in both tanks. I have a ton of plants, more then 10 plants in the 46g along with other fish. Its hard to make this call cuz as you said if it fits in the mouth of the CK, then he will go after it. I have seen him with his mouth open all the way, there's no way he could fit the KOI in there! The KOI has girth lol

Koi don't belong in aquariums. Yes, you can keep them in tanks when they are small, but they grow quickly and are very messy. Tough to maintain good water quality for a large koi in a 125 gallon tank. Koi can grow to 3 feet in length.

Yeah Koi are messy as I can tell in my 46g. Joe, do you have Koi experience? this is my first koi. I have a fluval 305 and ac-110 on the 125g, would u recommend anything else when he goes in there?
