Hi There,

I have a 150G slightly planted community tank. Much to my surprise today pair of my Angels have laid eggs on my filter intake pipe. I just don't know what to do. I never thought they would breed in my community tank. What should I do? I have taken out my Pleco and put him into my daughters tank. I currently have 4 other angels, red spera tetras, platties(big & small), siamese algea eaters, tri color shark, rainbows, cory fish, flying foxes, gouramis, and swoard fish. I was told by a family member with experience that I don't need to remove them. He said that the angels would protect the fry until they hatch. Is this accurate? Should I try to remove they fry with the pair into a new tank? Also, once the fry hatch, how soon should i take them out? How long until they hatch? I plan to set up a new tank to raise the fry. When i remove the fry do I have to take out the "breeding pair" with them? What should they be fed once they hatch?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am so excited. I was never expecting this. I'm so happy :)

Please help...... :headbang2

I would take the eggs out by themselves and place them in a ten gallon with water from the tank. Use a sponge filter for them. get some metyhylene blue, add that to the tank to prevent the fry from being taken over by fungus. If Im not mistaken it takes approx 7 days for them to hatch. Once hatched feed them either decapculated baby brine or the easier method of wardley essentials small fry food (its a white liquid in a purple bottle) after you start feeding you need to start water changes. the more frequent you do them the faster they will grow. by the way the meth. blue will turn everything blue and is wont come off.

if you leave them in there they still might be eaten by the parents (angels arent good parent) or the loaches or cories take them out do what the person above said. i wouldnt use liquid food either and make sure there is a light current flowing across the eggs for circulation witch the parents usually do. or you could take out the loaches and cories and let the parents take control and if they dont eat the eggs great! but if they do its most likly their fist brood? they might get the hang of it if you want to wait a little longer. good luck

even fish that are very good parents dont often succesfully raise the first batch.Angels often arent able to ever raise any.Once they start they will spawn about every 2 weeks. You could let them try a few times and set up a hatching tank.I pull every 5th or 6th spawn from my pair and hatch them.

Hello everyone. Thanks for all your very helpful advise. Unfortunately when I woke this morning they were all gone. Very upsetting. I am going out the get a new tank to have it up and ready to put the eggs in to hatch when they spawn again. Hopefully they will.

Thanks again everyone.
