When I had a breeding pair of JD, I didn't remove their fry until they were about to lay another batch of eggs. I believe they spawned about every 6-8 weeks. I didn't do anything special to feed the fry while they were with the parents. The pair always made sure the fry ate well by taking them around to different feeding spots in the tank and by ejecting crumbled fish food from their gills. Once separated I would feed the fry crushed flake food and frozen Brine Shrimp. There are fry foods such as First Bites and another formula by NLS that you can offer them. I try to keep the fry of all of my pairs with their parents for as long as possible. I think the parents do a much better job at raising healthy fry than I do. Sometimes pulling the fry is the only option when there are hungry tank mates or parents, or when the parents are too inexperienced to raise fry.
